Cusco - Santiago
On August 6th, we begin our journey in the vibrant city of Cusco, Peru, and make our way to the bustling capital of Chile, Santiago. This expedition combines a thrilling mix of terrains: high-altitude plateaus, salt flats and other natural wonders. Along the route, we traverse the Andes Mountains, immersing ourselves in the awe-inspiring landscapes of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.
Highlights
Some highlights of the expedition:
- Lake Titicaca, South America’s largest freshwater lake, nestled high in the Andes. Explore the shores of this legendary lake, the highest navigable in the world, and experience the unique local culture.
- La Paz, Bolivia, a city perched dramatically within a canyon carved by the Choqueyapu River. Think vibrant culture, colorful streets, and beautiful surrounding landscapes.
- For the thrill-seekers: conquer El Camino de la Muerte, the legendary “Death Road,” where adrenaline and awe collide on this narrow, winding path from La Paz to Coroico.
- Bolivia’s salt flats. Glistening salt, contrasting with vivid red mountains and deep blue skies. Perfect for surreal photos.
- Potosí silver mine: gain a unique insight into the daily life of a miner as we explore one of the world’s most famous historic silver mines.
- As we enter Argentina, the landscapes continue to surprise. Witness a desert of fossilized dunes millions of years old, and one of the world’s largest fields of pumice stone formations. Experience the dramatic rock formations of Cañon de Talampaya in Talampaya National Park, and hike through El Leoncito National Park.
- Mendoza, Argentina, awaits with its world-renowned wine (mainly Malbec). And this is only a taste of what Argentina has to offer. You’ll see different sides of the country in the next leg of the expedition.
- Atacama Desert, Chile: stretch along nearly 1,000 km of the driest non-polar desert on Earth. Witness dramatic salt flats, and, at night, a star-studded sky unlike any other.
- Along the way, encounters with alpacas and other iconic Andean wildlife add a charming touch to your adventure.
Safety is our priority, so we’ll assess the road’s conditions and suitability for your vehicle before embarking on this adventure.
