It is an ideal continent for traveling around bustling cities and sleepy villages, past vast salt flats and through dense rainforests, over high mountain passes and past colorful markets. The possibilities are endless!

But what are the real highlights? It can be quite difficult to choose, because South America is a beautiful and diverse continent. All countries have their own gems. In 3 parts we take you along the gems of South America:

Santiago - Ushuaia

part 3

Embark on an unforgettable journey from Santiago, Chile to Ushuaia, Argentina, where you will explore some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in South America. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique cultures and traditions of the countries you will visit. The final final destination is Buenos Aires, where you put the truck back on the boat heading home.

Highlights during this expedition

From Santiago in Chile to Ushuaia in Argentina we will travel south through the stunning Chilean Andes, passing through small towns and villages where you can meet locals and learn about their way of life.

As you cross the border into Argentina, you will enter the region of Patagonia, where you will encounter some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. From the towering peaks of the Andes to the vast open plains of the Pampas, Patagonia is a region of contrasts that will leave you in awe.

Our journey will take us through Torres del Paine, a national park known for its soaring peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and spectacular glaciers. Get ready to witness the beauty of nature at its finest as we marvel at the stunning landscapes of this region. But that’s not all – we’ll also have the chance to get up close and personal with some of Patagonia’s most fascinating wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for penguins and whales!

Via the Carretera Austral and Ruta 40, two of the most scenic roads in the world, we make our way to Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost point of the South American continent with its rugged coastline, sweeping vistas, and rich history, the southernmost point of the South American continent.

Finally we’ll continue our journey to the city of Ushuaia, known as the “end of the world.” This remote city, located at the southernmost tip of Argentina, is the gateway to Antarctica and offers breathtaking views of the Beagle Channel and the surrounding mountains.

Overall, this expedition from Santiago to Ushuaia is a truly unique and unforgettable travel experience that will take you through a variety of landscapes and cultures, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.

Optional: Antarctica extension

After completing your overland journey from Santiago to Ushuaia, why not extend your adventure and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience to Antarctica, also known as the 7th continent? Board a boat in Ushuaia and sail across the infamous Drake Passage to the white continent.

The journey to Antarctica is a thrilling adventure in itself, as you cross one of the most challenging stretches of water in the world. As you sail through the Drake Passage, keep your eyes peeled for the abundance of wildlife that calls these waters home, including whales, dolphins, and seabirds.

Once you arrive in Antarctica, you will have the chance to explore one of the most pristine and untouched wilderness areas on the planet. With no permanent human settlement on the continent, the wildlife and landscapes are completely untouched by human influence.

During your time in Antarctica, you will participate in activities like hiking, zodiac cruising and flight seeing by helicopter. So you’ll have the opportunity to see massive icebergs up close, walk on glaciers, and witness colonies of penguins and seals in their natural habitat.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience will leave you with a deep appreciation for nature and a greater understanding of the importance of protecting it.
