The lush heart of Central America

Along the way, highlights include:

  • Snorkeling and diving among whale sharks, manta rays, and colorful tropical fish along some of the world’s largest coral reefs.
  • Exploring iconic Mayan and Aztec ruins such as Copán and Tikal, hidden deep in the jungle.
  • Encounters with rainforest wildlife, from howler monkeys and toucans to parrots and other tropical species.
  • Hikes through green highlands, boat trips to tropical islands, and visits to working coffee plantations.
  • Time to unwind on the Caribbean coast, with white sand beaches and crystal-clear water.
  • A visit to the Panama Canal, one of the greatest engineering achievements in history.

This leg balances adventure and downtime: challenging driving days, active excursions, cultural encounters, and plenty of moments to slow down and enjoy the sun, sea, and surroundings. We finish in Panama City, at the edge of the Darién Gap: the only break in the Pan American Highway between Alaska and Patagonia. From here, the road pauses… but the journey continues.
